O uso da fala de crianças de três anos em escola bilíngue : língua materna e inglesa

Abstract

O presente trabalho pesquisou a utilização de uma segunda língua por crianças de aproximadamente três anos de idade em momentos de brincadeira livre e de atividades dirigidas, tendo como objetivo geral investigar a interação entre criança e seus pares e entre criança e professor, observando em qual momento a criança faz o uso mais frequente da segunda língua. Este estudo será baseado nos conceitos de linguagem oral, desde o início com motherese, o processo de aquisição através do scaffolding, a fala egocêntrica e a imitação da linguagem. Introduzindo também o bilinguismo e a mudança de códigos, codeswitching. A pesquisa foi realizada em uma escola da rede privada do Distrito Federal, na qual se adota um sistema bilíngue para proporcionar aos alunos o aprendizado de uma língua estrangeira desde cedo. Dentro do tema foram analisadas quatro crianças que apresentaram maior frequência do uso da segunda língua na presença da professora em atividades dirigidas, buscando o codeswitching para mostrar que têm conhecimento da segunda língua. Já na brincadeira livre apresentou mais falas na língua materna entre os pares, porém na tentativa de estabelecer um diálogo com a professora, os participantes escolhiam a língua inglesa. Apesar da idade das crianças, muitas apresentaram a fala egocêntrica junto com a alternância de idiomas, sendo considerado normal pela idade. ___________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT

The present work researched the use of a second language by infants who were approximately three years old at free play time and directed activities, aiming at investigating the interaction between the children and their classmates as well as between the child and the teacher; observing when the child would use the second language more frequently. This study will be based on the concepts of oral language, since the beginning with motherese, the process of acquirement through the scaffolding, the egocentric speech and the imitation of language. It also introduces the bilingualism and the change of codes, codeswitching. The research was conducted in a private school of the Federal District of Brazil, in which the bilingual system is adopted in order to provide the students with the learning of a foreign language from an early age. During the investigation, there were four children who were analyzed for presenting a higher frequency of the use of a second language in the presence of the teacher in directed activities, seeking the codeswitching to show that they have knowledge of the second language. During free play, utterances in the mother tongue were more common among classmates, whereas when attempting to establish a dialogue with the teacher, the children chose the English language. Despite the age of the children, many presented the egocentric speech together with the alternation of languages, which is considered normal given the age.
