Processos sexuais da pessoa com Síndrome de Down : uma visão dos familiares

Abstract

O presente trabalho procurou refletir sobre a sexualidade dos sujeitos com síndrome de Down, tendo como base as percepções de seus familiares. Apresenta estigmas e mitos sociais que por muitas vezes influenciam no entendimento da sexualidade da pessoa com deficiência. Se pautou na abordagem fenomenológica, que pretende entender os fenômenos tais como se apresentam na consciência do sujeito e através da experiência individual. A pesquisa é empírica e exploratória, tendo como método de pesquisa o tipo mistos sequenciais. Apresenta dados quantitativos e qualitativos. Os dados foram obtidos através de pesquisa documental e aplicação de questionário, tendo como cenário a Associação de Pais e Amigos dos Excepcionais (APAE- DF). Os dados quantitativos, isto é, os obtidos através do levantamento documental e perguntas fechadas do questionário foram apresentados em quadros, gráficos e tabelas, sendo contextualizados com as narrativas trazidas pelos familiares nas questões abertas. Constatou-se que apesar do processo de mudanças e transformações nos arranjos familiares na atualidade, os papéis básicos de tutela e supervisão dos pais em torno dos filhos, ainda está presente, e dessa forma reflete na expressão da sexualidade desses sujeitos. Há convergência do tema apresentado com a clínica da Terapia Ocupacional, tendo em vista que os processos sexuais são considerados atividades básicas de vida diária. ___________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT

This research intends to ponder about the sexuality of people with Down syndrome based on their relatives' perceptions. It shows stigmas and social myths that sometimes enter the understanding of sexuality of a person with incapacity. It has grounded in phenomenological approaching, what means to understand the phenomenons just like they appear at the wight's conscience and through the individual experience. This study is empirical and the methodology used was the exploratory sequential mixed design. The presented data are quantitative and qualitative. The data were gotten from documentary research and application of questionnaires at Association of Parents and Friends of Deficients (APAE-DF). The quantitative data, i.e., which were obtained through the documentary research and objective questions from the survey, were presented in pictures, graphics and charts and they were correlated with the relatives' replies of the subjective questions. It has testified that, despite of the process of changing and transformation in the familiar settlement in the present, the functions of tutelage and management of the parents still exist and, thus, they reflect on the expression of sexuality of people with Down syndrome. There is convergence between the presented theme and the practice of Occupational Therapy, considering that the sexual processes are reported in the basics activities of daily life.
