| Resumo: | Este trabalho tem como foco de pesquisa os elementos da Literatura Fantástica, propostos por Tzvetan Todorov, e analisá-los na obra “After Dark”, de Murakami Haruki. Como objetivos do trabalho há a classificação de gênero da obra em questão como Fantástica ou não, verificar se há elementos do Fantástico de Todorov presentes na obra e caracterizá-los, mesmo se esta não puder ser classificada como tal. Para alcançar tais objetivos, foi feita a análise de quais características devem estar presentes em uma obra para que possa classificá-la como pertencente ao gênero Fantástico. Além de “Introdução à Literatura Fantástica” e “After Dark”, foram lidos, também, contos citados por Todorov e outras obras de autores japoneses caracterizadas como Fantásticas. Após as leituras, foi feito um levantamento de dados, onde as características do Fantástico, apresentadas por Todorov, foram cruzadas com as características pré-julgadas como Fantásticas das obras analisadas, de forma a se obter um melhor entendimento de como se dá o Fantástico numa obra literária e se tais obras analisadas realmente poderiam ser classificadas como tal. Como resultados, pôde-se perceber que 1) “After Dark” como obra não pode ser classificada como Fantástico, uma vez que não atende ao requisitos necessários, porém 2) “After Dark” possui, sim, elementos Fantásticos, pois causa o efeito de hesitação apresentado por Todorov. Além disso, pode-se notar, também, que o fator sobrenatural presente em parte das obras de Murakami pode causar essa hesitação no leitor e à personagem, levando sua narrativa a possuir aspectos do Fantástico de Todorov. _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
This work uses the elements of Tzvetan Todorov’s Fantastic Literature in order to analyse Murakami Haruki’s novel “After Dark”. Is the novel apt to be classified as Fantastic? What are the Fantastic elements present in it? These are the main questions dealt with in this work. Besides that, the analysis of what are the characteristics of the Fantastic and how to classify a work into that category is also shown here. In order to achieve the objectives, an attentive reading of Murakami’s “After Dark” and Todorov’s “Introduction to the Fantastic Literature” has been made. Furthermore, some other short stories, as mentioned by Todorov, have been read, as well as other Japanese Literature works that have been characterized as Fantastic. After the readings, a data collection has been created, in order to cross-analise the Fantastic characteristics, as shown by Todorov, and the characteristics present on the analyzed works, so a better understanding of how the Fantastic occurs in a literary work and if these works can really be classified as such. As a result, it has been found that 1) “After Dark” cannot be classified as Fantastic literary piece, as it doesn’t satisfy the necessary requirements, but 2) “After Dark” does have Fantastic elements in it, causing the reader the hesitation about the truth, as depicted by Todorov. Also, it is possible to notice the supernatural factor, which is present in some of Murakami’s works and which can provoke in the reader and the character this hesitation, which can bring the narrative the same aspects of Todorov’s Fantastic. |
