| dc.description.abstract | O objetivo desse trabalho foi realizar uma revisão literária sobre a saúde bucal de pessoas com
deficiência (PCD) e uma avaliação sobre o grau de conhecimento de cuidadores acerca da saúde
bucal destas pessoas. Métodos: Uma pesquisa foi realizada na base de dados PubMEd, LILACS e
Scielo sobre saúde bucal com as seguintes palavras chaves: “oral hygiene” e “special needs
patients”, incluindo artigos de 2005 a 2019. Um estudo longitudinal foi realizado com 14
cuidadores do Instituto Dom Orione em Brasília-DF. Um questionário foi aplicado contendo
questõessobre saúde bucal antes e após a realização de uma palestra educativa. Os dados foram
avaliados por análise descritiva e comparativa, de acordo com o teste de McNemar, (p<0,05).
Resultados: De acordo com os estudos avaliados, existe uma grande necessidade de tratamento
odontológico para as PCDs e há uma falta de conhecimento dos cirurgiões-dentistas acerca do
melhor protocolo de atendimento. Há uma grande prevalência de doenças periodontal e cárie.
Sete dos quatorze cuidadores têm o hábito de escovar os dentes das pessoas com deficiências
três vezes ao dia. Mais de 90% dos profissionais relataram ter dificuldade no momento da
higienização e mais de 70%, admitiram que não conseguem utilizar o fio dental na escovação da
PCD. 85,7% dos moradores do Instituto recebem acompanhamento odontológico periódico.
Conclusão: A capacitação não influenciou na percepção quanto ao conhecimento sobre saúde
bucal pelos cuidadores. É necessário outros estudos para melhor avaliação. | pt_BR |

| dc.description.abstract1 | The aim of this work was to carry out a literary review on the oral health of people with disabilities (PCD) and an evaluation of the degree of knowledge of caregivers about the oral health of these people. Methods: A study was carried out in the PubMEd, LILACS and Scielo database on oral health with the following key words: “oral hygiene” and “special needs patients”, including articles from 2005 to 2019. A longitudinal study was carried out with 14 caregivers of the Don Orione Institute in Brasília-DF. A questionnaire was applied containing oral health questions before and after an educational lecture. The data were evaluated by descriptive and comparative analysis, according to the McNemar test, (p <0.05). Results: According to the studies evaluated, there is a great need for dental treatment for PCDs and there is a lack of knowledge of dentists about the best guide for care. There is a high prevalence of periodontal disease and caries. Seven of the fourteen caregivers have the habit of brushing the teeth of people with disabilities three times a day. More than 90% of professionals reported having difficulty at the time of hygiene and more than 70% admitted that they can not use dental floss in the brushing of PCD. 85.7% of the PCDs of the Institute receive regular dental visits. Conclusion: The training did not influence the perception about oral health knowledge among caregivers. Further studies are needed for a better evaluation. | pt_BR |
