dc.description.abstract1Cerrado is the second largest biome in Brazil, but has only 8% of legally protected areas, with an intense advance of its occupation since 1970, mainly for agricultural activities. In this scenario of conservation of biodiversity and rational use of natural resources, the National System of Conservation Unit (SNUC) categorized the Sustainable Use Conservation Units. Within this category, we highlight the Environmental Protection Area (APA), with basic objectives to protect biological diversity, discipline the occupation process and ensure the sustainability of the use of natural resources. It was in this context that the Environmental Protection Area of the Central Plateau (APAPC) was created to protect water sources, regulate the use of water resources and land parceling, ensuring the rational use of natural resources and protecting the environmental and cultural heritage of region. Considering the diversity of uses and occupations and the need to conserve the natural vegetation of APAPC, the objective was to characterize the intra-annual patterns of the natural vegetation cover present in APAPC territory, using temporal orbital data. The hydrographic divisions in the APAPC territory were considered: Tocantins / Araguaia (TO), São Francisco (SF) and Paraná (PR). Within each hydrographic region, forest formations (3), savannas (4) and pastures (12) were considered, according to Mapbiomas (http://mapbiomas.org). In each of these classes of natural vegetation cover 50 random points were generated, totaling 450 points in the entire APAPC area in a geographic information system platform. In order to evaluate the intra-annual variations, Operational Land Imaging (OLI) orbital data on the Landsat-8 satellite, using the interval between April and September 2016, were used for three vegetation indices: Normalized Difference Vegetation Index NDVI), Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) and Normalized Difference Moisture Index (NDMI). Profiles of the temporal patterns of the indices by class and by river basin were generated. The evaluation of the variations of the vegetation cover was made the Analysis of Permutational Multivariate Variance (PERMANOVA), through program R, Vegan package. It was observed that all values of the indices reduced during the evaluated period, being more intense in the forest formations of the Tocantins / Araguaia basin. Statistical analyzes analyzed the differences between the means of the natural vegetation indices and indicated a significant difference between all basins (p = 0.001). Among the interactions between natural vegetation cover of the river basins, the interactions SF4xTO4 (0.107), PR3xSF3 (0.073) and SF3xTO3 (0.053) were not significant. It is concluded that the intra-annual patterns of the natural vegetation of APAPC presented differences according to the physiographic characteristics of the hydrographic basins (TO, SF, PR). Considering that the work was carried out with only one year (2016), in order to improve this approach, the use of multi-temporal data and the use of climatic variables is suggested.pt_BR
