Abstract: | The hydrogel has been a great alternative for planting seedlings under adverse conditions of water
availability, being widely used in the recovery of degraded areas, but there is the need to
evaluate this technology as a germination conditioner and seedling establishment. The objective of
this work was to evaluate the effect of hydrogel on germination and seedling establishment of
Dalbergia miscolobium. The emergence velocity index (IVE), number of germinated seeds (NSG), number
of leaves (NF), aerial part length (CPA), root length (CR), number of roots (NR), number of
seedlings with fungi (NPCF), number of dead seedlings (NPM), fresh weight (PF), dry weight (PS),
number of germinated seeds without seedlings (NSGSP) and number of ungerminated hard seeds (NSNGD),
in 5 treatments with different dosages of hydrogel. There was influence of hydrogel use on the CR,
NPM and PF variables. The treatment that obtained the best results was the treatment of 0,5g of
hydrogel per liter of substrate used.
